In November 2022, the final drafts of the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) have been submitted to the European Commission for their approval and publication as EC regulation. The ESRS is expected to be issued by the end of June 2023. These standards define requirements for corporate reporting of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues. Additionally, ESRS is part of the European Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) that came into force in January 2023 and will be applied by certain entities starting from 1 January 2024 or later depending on the type of company. The main goal of the new regulations is to improve the quality of sustainability reporting to ensure that the sustainability data is comparable, relevant, and reliable.

On behalf of the AmCham Sustainability Committee, we invite you to a meeting entitled Sustainability Reporting – the Road to CSRD Compliance. Our guest will be Ms. Małgorzata Szewc, Vice Chairman of the Polish Association of Listed Companies (Stowarzyszenie Emitentów Giełdowych), an independent organization of companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

Our discussion will include:

- The framework of the CSRD Directive;

- ESRS – current project stage (purpose, standards, benefits);

- ESRS challenges (materiality assessment, value chain, disclosure requirements).

The meeting (conducted in Polish) will take place on Tuesday, June 13, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00a.m. and will be chaired by Mr. Mariusz Wawer, Head of Governmental Relations & Sustainability at 3M East Europe and the Chair of the AmCham Sustainability Committee. Deputy President at Polish Association of Listed Companies

Małgorzata graduated from German Philology at the Jagiellonian University. She has completed Postgraduate studies in Accounting and Public Finance and European Administration. She is also a graduate of KSAP (National School of Public Administration in Warsaw). From 2006 – 2022 as a civil servant at the Ministry of Finance, she was tasked with international cooperation and with EU law in accounting, auditing, and non-financial/sustainability reporting. She has been representing Poland for 16 years in the Accounting Regulatory Committee, which advises the European Commission on IFRS endorsement into the EU law, and also in the EU Council’s Working Party on Company Law (legislative work on the revision of the Accounting Directive, Micro-entities directive, Non-financial reporting directive NFRD and recently on Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive CSRD). 2018 -2019 she coordinated the Ministry of Finance project on NFRD implementation in Poland (report “Non-financial reporting for 2017 in line with the Polish Act on Accounting – first experiences and good practices”).
