Together with the Łukasiewicz Research Network - Institute of Ceramics and Building Materials, we invite you to an event dedicated to research, development, and business support in the Małopolska region, available for AmCham member companies.
The aim of the event is to present an overview of programs of multiple institutions supporting research and development in the region, discuss their feasibility for U.S. businesses operating in Poland and extend your network of regional decision-makers.
High representatives of the Marshal's Office of the Małopolska Region, Małopolska Regional Development Agency, Kraków Nowa Huta Przyszłości S.A. already confirmed their attendance at the event.

After the discussion and presentations, we invite you to a lunch and glassblowing workshop, where you will be able to create your own glass masterpiece.

Director of the Łukasiewicz – Institute of Ceramics and Building Materials
He has worked at the institute since 1995, progressing through the stages of his scientific and managerial career. Since 2018, he has been the director of the institute. His track record includes a number of successful R&D projects that have been implemented in industry. He has received a number of awards and honours for his scientific achievements, including a Gold Cross of Merit from the President of the Republic of Poland.

He is the Deputy Marshal of the Małopolska Region and the councilor to the Małopolska Region Parliament from the Tarnów district. Józef Gawron is a graduate of the Cracow University of Technology, Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering with the specialization in Machine Technology. He also completed post-graduate studies in IT, post-graduate studies in economics, specializing in Entrepreneurship and post-graduate studies in Healthcare Manager. Between 2015 and 2018 he held the position of the Vice-Voivode of the Małopolska Region. For his activities for the local community, he was awarded the Silver Cross of Merit by the President of Poland.

Dariusz Kata is the professor at the AGH-University of Science and Technology, Cracow, Poland. He gained Ph.D. in 1997, habilitation in 2007 and full professor position in 2016. Professor Dariusz Kata published two books and is co-author of around 240 papers. He was invited as visiting professor to Hokkaido University in Japan (2010, 2012, 2015); University of Ceretaro, Mexico (2008), University of Miskolsc, Hungary (2013), EMPA Institute of ETH Domain, Zurich Switzerland (2010-2023), University of Central Florida (2023), School of Aeronautic Science and Engineering Beijing China (2019), the State Key Laboratory of High Performance Ceramics and Superfine Microstructure, Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (2019);
Currently, President of Polish Materials Society, Member of Executive Committee of Federation of European Materials Society (FEMS), Leader of two European Projects and several of national materials research projects.
His research is focused on synthesis and sintering of advanced composites and examination of their structure and microstructure. His expertise is extended to thermal dissociation of nitrides and carbides, measurements of structural and functional properties of polycrystalline compounds and preparation and rheological investigation of UV-cure pastes. Recently, his work is focused on joining of the materials and shaping by the additive manufacturing method.
He graduated from master studies at the Management and Marketing Faculty of the Cracow University of Economics, with specialization in Accounting. He has over a dozen years of business experience; in 2001-2015 he was running his own food industry business, employing more than a dozen people. In the period of 2000-2008 he worked as the chief accountant at the Stebo Enterprise INT Logistics Services for Clinical Research. From 2007 he was employed as a specialist, and from 2011 - as a chief financial specialist at the Małopolska Regional Development Agency SA. At MARR, he also worked for several years as an internal auditor of the quality management system and was an accredited consultant of the National System of Services supervised by the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP). He actively participated in the implementation of many programs and projects, was a member of the MARR Investment Committee, Chairman of the Subsidy Award Committee in the Swiss-Polish Cooperation Program entitled “Local Initiatives for Regional Development of the Gorlice and Nowy Sącz Districts”. He also was a member of the commission that evaluated applications in the Innovative Economy Operational Program. In the period of 2016 -2017 he was a member of the Management Board for Economic Affairs at Wieliczka Salt Mine SA. In 2018 he was the Deputy President of the Management Board of Nowe Jaworzno Tauron Group Ltd.

Since 2008, she has worked as head of the Department of Gypsum and Building Chemistry, where she was involved in research on building chemistry products and fire safety. She is currently Deputy Director of the Institute for Research and Commercialisation. She is a member of PKN Technical Committees: KT No 211 for thermal insulation products in construction, KT No 184 for adhesives, KT 194 for gypsum and gypsum products and KT 180 for fire safety. She is the author of numerous publications and expert opinions in the field of technology and testing of construction products and fire safety and durability of finishing materials. An expert in the field of building chemistry and façade systems.
