Getting to Carbon Neutrality – Developing an Operational Plan for Decarbonization

The events of the past few days have shaken all of us. We will adapt the topics of the AmCham committees to the current situation to make sure we stay ahead and provide useful content, but we have decided that the pre-planned meetings will be held on the agreed format and dates.

More and more companies are joining the global initiative to fight climate change in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement. In addition to market pressures in supply chains, a significant level of decarbonization pressure will come from declarations by financial institutions that are committed to reducing indirect emissions in their investments and loan portfolios. Companies need to quickly and effectively define their energy strategies and determine the level of their ambition to use renewable sources. Failure to make these strategic decisions in the short term could result in significantly higher green energy prices than competitors or the inability to meet decarbonization targets at the expected level.

Our speakers will beMr. Tomasz Gasiński, Ph.D., Director at Deloitte, Risk Advisory; Mr. Kamil Jańczyk, CFA, Assistant Director at Deloitte, Financial Advisory, who will present SBT practical strategy decarbonization approach followed by practical information on green energy purchasing and renewables. The meeting will be moderated by Mr. Mariusz Wawer, Head of Governmental Relations & Sustainability at 3M East Europe.

We will discuss:

- Science-Based Targets methodology;

- Climate neutrality roadmaps & targets;

- Decarbonization project stages;

- Main areas and initiatives for decarbonization – and whom to engage;

- Green energy and renewable energy sources.
