Exploring the topic of Intellectual Property Rights in Poland, we invite you to a meeting entitled Fight against Counterfeiting in Poland – How to Protect Intellectual Property Effectively - part II procedural issues.
Our speakers will be experts from DLA Piper, Mr. Krystian Maciaszek, Counsel; Ms. Alicja Wolny and Ms. Aleksandra Wrońska, Associates. They will be accompanied by Mr. Cezary Sowiński, Public Policy Manager, Amazon, and Mr. Artur Wojciechowski, Customs & Treasury Services Office, Ministry of Finance. Our guests will provide a brief introduction on law enforcement action on counterfeit goods in recent years, including general conclusions on the frequency, effectiveness, and speed of law enforcement activities, including:
1. Actions at the border: what is the legal basis for such actions; what should be done to benefit from such protection;
2. Field activities (difference between civil and criminal proceedings);
3. What actions (legislative, training, priority changes) could increase the effectiveness of such activities;
4. Case study - Amazon's presentation on how to combat counterfeiting by reliable and practical verification of sellers and the products they offer and how to cooperate with IPR owners and law enforcement agencies.
