We would like to invite you to our March Monthly Meeting held online via Webex on Wednesday, March 3rd, 10:00-11:00 a.m. The meeting will feature a panel discussion on the upcoming business and investment climate during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The panel, moderated by AmCham Chairman, Tony Housh, will include Bartosz Ciołkowski, Country Manager for Poland, Czech and Slovakia at Mastercard Europe; Adam Czerniak, Director for Research and Chief Economist at Polityka Insight; Eliza Przeździecka, Chief Economist at American Chamber of Commerce in Poland and Sławomir S. Sikora, Chief Executive Officer of Citi Handlowy.

We will discuss with our panelists the economic outlook for 2021 and beyond, what lessons have been learned, the political landscape for investors, what technology and practices are here to improve companies' resilience to crisis and what does the future hold. We also wish to highlight how the return to the new-normal looks like for businesses as we move forward with vaccines.

The meeting will be held in English.

Bartosz Ciołkowski was appointed Mastercard General Manager for Poland in January 2014 and in September 2019 he took over additional responsibility for managing the company’s business on the Czech and Slovak markets as well. Prior to this, he was the head of the sales department, responsible for the development of Mastercard's business in Poland.
Bartosz Ciołkowski started his career in BZ WBK bank. Before joining Mastercard, he also worked for Pekao SA, supervising the Payment Card Development Department. He joined Mastercard in 2005 as Account Manager. Then he developed the credit card portfolio in Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Ukraine. Starting from 2009 he was responsible for the development of the company's consulting department, Mastercard Advisors, in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, carrying out over 50 projects concerning: payment products’ profitability optimization, development of innovative solutions and loyalty programs as well as co-branding projects.
In 2017, he received the eDucat award in the category of “Personality of the Year” granted by the Foundation for the Development of Cashless Turnover (FROB) for his contribution to building cashless Poland and effective leadership in the work on the Cashless Payments Development Program. He was the first Chairman of the Board of the Cashless Poland Foundation (till September 2019), supervising this large-scale project to finance POS terminals for SME merchants, which is run thanks to extensive cooperation between the financial sector and the Polish government. Currently he is a member of Foundation’s Council.
Bartosz Ciołkowski graduated from the Faculty of Economics of Poznań University of Economics and Business, with specialization in the field of economic policy and strategy.

Eliza Przeździecka is a Head of Economic Research at American Chamber of Commerce in Poland and a Professor at the SGH Warsaw School of Economics. She serves as a Member of the Board of Directors, Polish-U.S. Fulbright Commission.
She authored numerous publications on foreign direct investment, global value chains, international trade, and trade policy. Her main interests are focused on relocation of a firm’s value chain, business internationalization process, and an investment valuation methodology.
She has been assessing investment projects, and developing technology transfer models in many assignments implemented for business and state administration institutions.
Professor Przezdziecka was a research scholar at various universities, e.g., Duke University, ZHAW School of Management and Law in Switzerland, Toulouse School of Business, Aarhus University, Trier University, and Vienna University of Economics and Business.
She graduated from the SGH Warsaw School of Economics and Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona in Spain.

Sławomir S. Sikora was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Bank Handlowy in Warsaw S.A. in 2003.
In 2005 - 2008 he was Member of Citigroup Management Committee in New York.
In the years 2001-2003 he was Chief Executive Officer of American Bank in Poland. His earlier career position was the Head of Corporate and Investment Banking at Powszechny Bank Kredytowy S.A. (1994-2001). Prior to this, he held a number of senior positions at the Poland’s Ministry of Finance, including the Head of Banking and Financial Institutions (1989-1994). In this capacity, he successfully oversaw the government-run banking sector rehabilitation program (1992-1994)
Sławomir S. Sikora is a graduate of Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) and a Konrad Adenauer Research fellow at the University of Cologne
Sławomir S. Sikora has gained extensive board experience including present roles as a member of Supervisory Regulations Advisory Committee at The Polish Banks Association a Vice President of the Board of the Polish Confederation of Private Employers Lewiatan and member of the Emerging Markets Advisory Council at the Institute of International Finance (Washington D.C.)
In 2010 he was awarded by the President of the Republic of Poland with the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta.
